For Pier Projects eighth Studio Social, we were delighted to welcome artist Maria Proshkowska to Hamilton MAS for an artist talk and the opening of a studio showcase featuring recent film and a sand-based installation.
Maria introduced her practice focussing on her commission at MAMbo, Bologna. A continuation of her performative practice, the work - with the provisional title ‘FARINA’ - explores the social and political significance of the city’s grain culture through repetitive movement and gesture and includes wheat grown in her home country, Ukraine. Maria Proshkowska works with performance, video, installation and photography. Born in Ukraine, due to the ongoing invasion, she is currently living in Ipswich.
This event was made possible with the support of Arts Council England.
